What is HornetPLUS

If you are a first year student living in Halls you will be familiar with Hornet, the broadband service provided in 15,000 rooms at the University of Manchester. Every year we get students asking if they can get Hornet in town once they have moved off campus and into private landlord housing.

Well the good news is that from January 2008, HornetPLUS will be available across Manchester offering fast broadband, digital TV and cheap phone calls.

Why choose HornetPLUS?

When it's time to leave halls and move out into private digs, the choices about which broadband, TV and phone services to order can often be confusing. Many providers will try to get you to sign 12 month contracts (or longer!) when your rental lease might only be for nine months.

Most will want you to provide utility bills as proof of address, which is always difficult when you haven't moved in yet and your electricity and heating was included in your rent on campus! Then there's download limits and caps, channel packages to choose from, call plans to select.

That's Where HornetPLUS Comes in

HornetPLUS is the only broadband, TV and phone service specifically created for students and has been created by the University and a company called Freewire (whom you may recognise if you used the TV or phone service in halls).
