Hornet, is the UK educational premier internet provider. It is 100% operated and owned by The University of Manchester. The service provides high-speed, fixed cost Internet access to student accommodation within the Manchester area.

The system is based on industry standard infrastructure operating to the highest standards. HornetPLUS is also unique in offering dedicated services to its end users.

HornetPLUS broadband is marketed directly to students at the University of Manchester and students will soon be able to order the full service directly from us as they could do with any ISP or cable/satellite provider.

However, HornetPLUS also offers tailored packages for Manchester Student Homes, landlords, with features such as bulk ordering, a single bill for multiple properties, installation and cabling services and the ability to split phone line rental from the service.

Students living in many halls of residence are able to use the Hornet service. HornetPLUS is not available in Halls that already receive the Hornet service. Support for the HornetPLUS service is provided through the partnership with INUK Networks and as such it has a distinct support model.

Hornet, and INUK, have come together to offer HornetPLUS Broadband service to students and student landlords within the Manchester area an ADSL solution instead of the Hornet High Speed Dark Fibre Solution.

INUK Networks is a triple-play service provider which has capitalised on the rapid growth of broadband technologies by developing a platform for the distribution of broadcast quality TV and carrier-class telephony over closed IP-based networks.

INUK, have developed FREEWIRE which is the company's branded triple-play product and VoIP services which is aimed at the student market.
